Classes were held in the Church of Nazarene and an Evangelical church. By January 1978 the numbers had grown significantly, needing an additional Hindu Hall for classes. In May 1978 the schools current location was adopted. It consisted of an administration block and eight classrooms. Lechwe remained a primary school until 1992 when the first form one (8th grade) class was started. In 1997 the first A level class graduated from the school. The school continued its growth on the copperbelt and it flourished along with the mines.
